The museum’s collection encompasses costumes and accessories from the 17th century to the present day, exhibited to the public both in its permanent exhibition and in temporary exhibitions.
The Museum is housed in the Angeja-Palmela Palace, named after the two families who owned the property, including its adjacent Monteiro-Mor Botanical Park.
Its mission is to build a strategy for research, conservation and dissemination of costume and textiles, as well as to set out a strategy for safeguarding the Botanical Park of Monteiro-Mor and promoting the binding of this entire heritage to the community.
Save Green is the concept that integrates the values of responsibility and sustainability, whilst also including the management of the cultural and natural heritage for which the National Museum of Costume is responsible.
